While Title IX is often associated with athletic programs, it applies to any educational program or activity that receives federal funding. As such, each Indiana university and school is obligated to establish a system of investigations and adjudications regarding complaints of sex discrimination and harassment.

Before a complaint can be investigated, the Complainant must file a Formal Complaint with the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX. This is an official document or electronic submission (such as an email) that contains the Complainant’s physical or electronic signature and indicates that he or she is filing the Formal Complaint.
